SMDERI QET conquered core technologies, including the design of highly efficient composite absorbents for low-concentration CO₂ capture, low-energy-consumption CO₂ desorption and separation,  and cryogenic CO₂ turbine-integrated liquefaction and high-density storage. Moreover, SMDERI QET successfully developed OCCS with independent intellectual property rights. With achievements mentioned above, SMDERI QET has obtained Approval In Principle (AIP) certificates from multiple leading classification societies. Additionally, it has secured the world's first ship orders for retrofitted and newly built vessels equipped with a carbon capture system that covers the entire process of capture, liquefaction, and storage. This achievement has supported the establishment of China's first inspection guidelines for OCCS.

OCCS independently developed by SMDERI QET has advantages such as high efficiency absorption, low-energy-consumption separation, compact low temperature storage, etc. The comprehensive capture rate  of CO₂ reaches more than 80%, the liquefaction rate is more than 99%, and the purity of liquid CO₂ is more than 99.5%. At the same time, through the use of new adsorbents, zoning process parameters control and other core technologies, the system energy consumption has been significantly reduced, and all the indicators have reached the international leading level, which is expected to significantly reduce the operational carbon intensity index (CII), and meet the requirements of IMO’s medium- and long-term decarbonization strategy.
