500 sets of EGCs off the line!

On Nov. 05, 2024, SMDERI QET launched the 500th set of EGCs in Fengxian production base,which was a milestone in SMDERI-QET's long history of focusing on marine exhaust aftertreatment.
Part1
Along the Way: More Than a Decade of Perseverance and Struggle to Build the Brand of SMDERI .
- In 1991, the first prototype of a modern desulphurization tower was installed on a ship.
- In 2010, the first commercial orders for desulphurization towers were placed and five towers were installed on four ro-ro vessels.
No Chinese presence in the marine desulfurization system industry in the past 20 years.
- In 2011, we invested in R&D and rose to the occasion.
- In 2017, we were awarded our first order.
- In 2024, The 500th marine desulfurization tower set was launched.
SMDERI QET’s self-developed Exhaust Gas Cleaning Systems (EGCs) cover a wide range of open, closed and hybrid types, with desulphurization efficiencies as high as 99% (equivalent to 0.1% fuel oil content), which can meet the needs of ships of different types, routes and regions. The product delivery experience covers all mainstream ship types, and can meet MARPOL73/78 Annex V requirements.
Adhering to the original spirit of “autonomy”, SMDER’s EGCs products have successfully realized independent research and development, achievement transformation, batch delivery and rapid iteration, and with high quality products, reliable delivery and efficient service, SMDERI has been highly recognized by globally renowned shipowners, shipyards and engine makers and ranked first class in the world. According to the relevant data, SMDERI’s EGCs products ranked the top three in the global market share.

Selected cases: Going International, Win-Win Cooperation
- In 2019, cooperated with Angelikoussis Shipping Group, the number one shipping company in Greece, to provide EGCs for a number of vessels, including the 280,000-ton VLOC Anangel Shagang.
- In 2023, cooperated with with COSCO Shipping Container Lines Ltd. to provide open EGCs for 19,273 TEU vessels.
- In 2024, cooperated again with MSC, the world's leading shipping company, to provide a complete exhaust aftertreatment solution for the MSC family of vessels.
