SMDERI-QET, a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), successfully completed the maiden sea trial of the Exhaust Gas Cleaning System (EGCs) installed on the container vessel WAN HAI 512, operated by Wan Hai Lines Ltd.(WHL).

During the sea trial, the independently developed EGCs by SMDERI-QET demonstrated exceptional performance, operating stably under maximum design load, with all emission indicators meeting or exceeding international regulatory standards.

With extensive experience in system development and a professional technical team, SMDERI-QET has successfully developed a full range of EGCs—open-loop, closed-loop, and hybrid—suitable for various vessel types and routes, achieving a desulfurization efficiency of up to 97% (equivalent to a fuel sulfur content of 0.1%). To date, SMDERI-QET has received orders for over 700 shipsets, with delivery experience covering a wide range of mainstream vessel types including container ships, bulk carriers, and oil tankers, all in compliance with Annex VI of MARPOL 73/78.
Sustainable green shipping is increasingly recognized as a global consensus. This partnership marks the first collaboration between SMDERI-QET and WHL, representing a significant step toward jointly promoting green transformation in shipping and advancing high-quality development within the industry. As a world-class shipping company with a long-standing history, extensive route network, and a strong fleet, WHL further strengthens SMDERI-QET’s leading position in the field of marine exhaust gas treatment through this collaboration. Together, the two parties will drive the green upgrading and transformation of the shipping industry.
