Recently, at the Asian Maritime and Ocean Network Seminar, SMDERI-QET was invited to participate in the ‘Green Shipping Innovation: Asian CCS Projects and Progress’ Forum. During the forum, SMDERI-QET provided attendees and industry professionals with a detailed presentation on its achievements across the entire value chain of onboard carbon capture and storage, eliciting a highly positive response from participants.
January 2024
Delivered the world’s first full-process Onboard Carbon Capture and Storage System (OCCS) for large container vessels. SMDERI-QET has been actively exploring the establishment of a complete ecological closed-loop value chain for the ‘unloading-transportation-utilization’ of liquefied carbon dioxide (LCO2).
April 2024 and January 2025
Successful realization of liquefied carbon dioxide (LCO2) ‘ship-to-shore’ unloading and subsequent utilization for OCCS at Shanghai Yangshan Port and Rotterdam Port, respectively. This pioneering achievement has established a new chain for greenhouse gas emission reduction in shipping.
June 19th, 2025
SMDERI-QET, in collaboration with Shanghai International Port Group (SIPG), successfully completed the world’s first ship-to-ship liquefied carbon dioxide (LCO2) transfer operation aboard a previously delivered 14,000 TEU large container vessel. This groundbreaking operation provides a ‘Chinese solution’ for the construction of the entire value chain of onboard carbon capture and storage, offering flexibility, rapid response, and independence from port reception and transfer infrastructure.
Over the past decade, SMDERI-QET has been widely recognized by numerous clients for its professional technical capabilities and comprehensive global services. In the context of the future green emission reduction and transformation in the shipping industry, SMDERI-QET will work together with domestic and international partners to jointly promote the global shipping sector’s journey towards achieving net-zero targets.
