The "2025 Academic Annual Conference on Carbon Neutrality & Emission Control for Internal Combustion Engines," hosted by the Chinese Society for Internal Combustion Engines, was recently held in Xiamen, Fujian Province. Focusing on the theme of "Dual-Carbon Goals and Green Development," the conference featured one plenary session and four specialized parallel forums, inviting numerous domestic and international experts and scholars to conduct in-depth exchanges and discussions on policy and regulatory support for dual-carbon initiatives, research advances in cutting-edge technologies, and supporting industrial development. Dr. Li Ke from Shanghai QiYao Environmental Technology Co., Ltd. (SMDERI-QET), a subsidiary of CSSC, was invited to deliver a keynote special report titled "Latest Advances and Application Prospects of OCCS Technology," showcasing the company's expertise in driving maritime decarbonization solutions.

Aligned with IMO's newly released Net-Zero Framework and the EU Emissions Trading System (EU ETS), this study conducts a holistic assessment of onboard carbon capture(OCC) technology by leveraging SMDERI-QET's pioneering Onboard Carbon Capture System (OCCS) and its liquid CO₂ transfer operations at Shanghai's Yangshan Port and Rotterdam Port. The analysis evaluates technology readiness, economic viability, and supporting infrastructure development, offering strategic insights into the future trajectory of onboard carbon capture technology and its industrial ecosystem.

With the adoption of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Net-Zero Framework, onboard carbon capture technology has emerged as a critical pathway for decarbonizing the shipping industry. SMDERI-QET's independently developed Onboard Carbon Capture System (OCCS) delivers industry-leading performance, achieving an 85% comprehensive carbon reduction rate with 99.9% capture purity.

SMDERI-QET actively responds to China's "Carbon Peak and Carbon Neutrality" strategy by focusing on emission control and green fuel solutions. The company has independently developed a series of advanced environmental technologies, including Onboard Carbon Capture System(OCCS), LNG Sub-cooling System(LSC), Fuel Gas Supply System(FGSS), and Methanol Fuel Supply Systems(MFSS). Through active collaboration with global partners, SMDERI-QET is not only promoting the development of global energy conservation and carbon reduction industries but also participating in the formulation of relevant regulations and standards, thereby making significant contributions to facilitating the green transformation of the shipping industry.
