Significant Breakthrough Achieved in China's First Large-scale LNG Sub-cooling System(LSC)

Recently, China's LNG vessel supporting industry achieved a milestone breakthrough. The LNG Sub-cooling System (LSC) module for Jiangnan Shipyard (Group) Co,Ltd's 175K LNG carrier, manufactured by Shanghai QiYao Environmental Technology Co., Ltd. (SMDERI-QET), a subsidiary of CSSC, was successfully completed on July 14 and transported to the cryogenic test bench for land-based operational testing. This marks the entry of China's first large-scale LNG Sub-cooling System(LSC) into its final verification phase, with delivery to Jiangnan Shipyard(Group) Co,Ltd. expected in late August.
As a core supporting equipment for LNG carriers, LSC have long relied on imports due to their high technical complexity. Building upon their experience with small-scale LNG carrier sub-cooling systems, the project team of SMDERI-QET has optimized multiple key technologies including: Dynamic cryogenic process simulation, High-power high-speed PM motors, 5-DOF active maglev bearing systems, Wide-range efficient turbomachinery, and Ultra-compact, low leakage skid integration. Through the technological accumulation from this vessel project, SMDERI-QET will establish serialized design and supply capabilities for cryogenic systems.
With the comprehensive advancement of land-based testing, SMDERI-QET's LSC project team will continue to leverage its technological innovation leadership to accelerate the industrialization of core technologies, injecting new momentum into the high-quality development of China's clean energy equipment sector.
